Community 3 Round System

The EMSA Community Program is played using a Three Round system.

Round 1

Teams are randomly grouped together and placed in groups of six when even possible, in these groups 5 games will be played. Groups with an odd number of teams may only play 4 games and incur a bye game. (This solely based on the number of teams registered for each age group, or if a team withdraws at some point during any given round). The Calculation Points/Games Played, is used in order to ensure that teams are not penalized for having only 4 games that count towards the standings.

Round 2

Teams will play a 4-5 game round robin. Based on the standings from round one teams will be arranged in tier specific groups. Once this round is complete, the teams are broken down further into their appropriate tiers based on the standings. Teams that have an W,X,Y,Z in their tier are considered equal. Teams who do not have an even number of teams in there tier will incur a bye. The Calculation Points/Games Played, in order to ensure that teams are not penalized for having only 4 games that count towards the standings.

Round 3

Based on the standings from round two, no more than two teams have the potential to move up or down a single tier. Final standings are determined based on Points/Games Played, in order to ensure that teams are not penalized for having only 4 games that count towards the standings. The final round standings determine team advancement into Post Season.

This is not always the case, however, and the final decision, based on standings, is left to the discretion of the League Director.
