Referee Courses Information for Outdoor Season

All EMSA and ASA courses usually run in MARCH and APRIL, in preparation for the Outdoor season, the registration for all courses will be online.

AFTER YOU GET THE ASA CERTIFICATION PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEPS LISTED HERE 

ENTRY LEVEL COURSES (new referees 14 years old before May 15th)

This course is for new referee 14 years or older (on or before May 15th), who would like to referee U11 8v8, U13 and older 11v11, or act as an assistant referee (linesman) at any level. Any referee who has taken an Entry Level course, 14 or older would be able to referee Mini games.

IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE YOU SIGN UP   : The course itself will still have a pre-online module component and a 1-day in person course like the current setup. Students will not be able to see or sign up for the practical until the modules are completed, which will be addressed in the Refcentre and ASA website materials.

MINI REFEREES COURSES (new referee 12 years and older)

A one-day introductory course for people 12 years and older (on or before May 15th), who would like to referee U9 and younger only. As of 2020, all Mini Referee Courses include AR training. Any referee who has taken an Entry Level course, 14 or older would be able to referee Mini games in your program.

OUTDOOR REFRESHER COURSES (existing entry level referee)

This course is for existing 11v11 referees (not mini referees), there is a mandatory refresher course prior to the start of the outdoor and indoor seasons

Returning ENTRY LEVEL referees will need to register for the season and pass the Outdoor Questionnaire to be able to register for a Refresher course. EMSA REFEREE Courses 

EMSA Assistant Referee A/R (ONLY LINESMAN)

The Assistant Referee course is open for all participant 11 years of age or older.  This course provides children with the needed instruction to assistant referee a game. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive Jersey, Shorts, Badge, socks and flag,  please ensure that the participants brings gym cloths and appropriate indoor footwear as there is indoor field portion with this course.

• Price: $135 (course + ref uniform)

This course has 3 component:

• 1*component Classroom Training plus Exam (2hours) and 2*component Practical Session (2 hours) same day.

March 8 2025 @ Edmonton Soccer Centre SOUTH (6520 Roper Road) : Classroom: 9:30am-11:30am + Field: 12:00pm-14:00pm

• 3* component Exam Review (1h) , ref uniform will be provided during this session
